Hello guys,
Well seeing some called my Helmet an over painted chech black lid which it is NOT (started by another lid on the same site) i thought i'd take some outside shots showing grey under the paint (not black!).I know it looks a bit fresh in these digital pics but thats Technology for you.It actually has good age and ware to it with heaps of character. You don't get that with repro lids! Who in their right mind would put fake cammo over an original SD lid for goodness sake guys.Think about it before you reply as there are real Helmets out there believe it or not and not all are fake
This one arrived in the post about an hour ago. Many thanks Mr Brandon . It is an ET64 double decal Combat Police M35.Lot number 3590. The decals have been 'de - nazified' but its a beauty. Nice chinstrap with period done repair, and a 1937 dated liner band. Here are a few pics. I will post some of the liner etc later.
I wonder if any forum member has thoughts about this quite interesting (potentially interesting) buckle?
A casual glance would suggest DLV, although has anyone every seen such a design of eagle and furthermore, to include the eagles head which is clearly looking upward?
Is it DLV or could it have been manufactured and used by another organisation?
Following a conversation with an advanced collector and researcher who is a forum member, a few tentative alternative ideas have been suggested.
Hi Everyone,
Picked up this book a couple of weeks ago in a second-hand book shop, a well thumbed through (actually tatty) 1st edition of “Gebirgsjäger auf Kreta” commission by General Ringel for his 5th Gebirgsjäger Division, printed 1941, along with a small Gebirgsjäger paper convolute. The book had belonged to a former Oberzahlmeister with Gebirgsjäger 100th Regt. In it were a number of things of interest (to me at least) – a signed postcard from General Julius Ringel, Knights Cross with Oak Leaf holder and a handwritten dedication by him –
J Ringel
----comrades ! You have made the word of the Fuhrer come true, that nothing is impossible for the German Soldier.
Further on to end victory for Greater Germany,
Hurray the Gams
J Ringel
Needless to say General Julius Ringel was an ardent Nazi, also in the book is a photocopy of the previous owners EK2 certificate, (with Ringel’s signature) won on Crete, plus original battle order command stating, how his unit were to be transported to Crete during the invasion, which units were to fly together with Geschwader Buchholz and a timetable –Third Wave 21.5.41 starting early from Tanagra, Greece landing at the airport Malenes, Crete. There’s also a printed letter from his Regiment’s Commander reviewing an earlier four days of fighting in April 1941 Greece breaking through Metaxas line, their bravery and the causalities the regiment suffered in doing so. Throughout the book are written comments in the margin, agreeing / disagreeing with the text. Actual personnel photos from the campaign stuck in on blank pages. Other items in the book and the convolute will need another post.
I just picked up my first German helmet. M40 type green rough paint stamped vent hole rolled rim w/very nice decal w/gold fleck in it. My question is on the liner. The liner and leather are very fragile because of sitting in an attic for over 40 years (admission from previous owner). Would it be advisable to find a repro or real liner to replace it? Same question for the chinstrap? Both of these parts are broken or missing parts. All hardware is there.
My grandfather just died and i found in his apartment
a set of 11 nazi plates. There are six soup plates
and five main dishes. They are without
scratches and they have never been used. They where
hidden and nobody knew for them. I live in Bulgaria.
I am not a collector and won't use them so if somebody is interested just tell me.
