re: Hurricane wreck with pilot recovery. Northern Russia
This find reminds me of the "Bog People" that have been found. They too are in a remarkable state of preservation even though they are in some cases thousands of years old. I also heartilly agree that it is wonderful that he has been found and interred properly as befits a soldier who gave everything.

I did some research on a Hurricane MkII that crashed in Cumbria in 1942-an aircraft recovery team did a dig in 77- and found the pilot in the aircraft-again he was well preserved as was the contents of his uniform pockets-the pound note serial numbers are listed in the official reports-when then removed his gloves his hands were intact

Hi i-m new on this forum and i must say this is truly amazing,it's very good when people like that are found and given a proper funeral,we all seem to forget how much they sacrified,no matter what side they fought on.
This is a good reminder ,at least to me,that what we collect has a tragic side to it-

New to te forum. That is an amazing recovery and the condition of the pilot after all this time is quite shocking. It is good to see that they brave crews are recovered and given the recognition and proper burial that they all deserve.
