WW2 2 piece cockade from Berlin

Hello, here is a 2 piece cockade just in from Berlin. I just wanted to share with you. Love the look of these. I will be leaving to Russia in a month to search for treasure.

How can you tell these are from WWII and not 1946?

My understanding was that when the sickle and hammer are seperate, we are in presence of a pre-1945 cap badge. It might wven be a pre-war cap badge.

The two piece model (pattern) of 1936 was manufactured and issued until 1939/40 but is seen in use throughout the war and into the postwar years.


1 - 38MM - Senior Officers

2 - 34MM - Officers & EM

Late 1940s model (pattern) - I believe 1947/48 or thereabout.

34MM - for use by all, except general & marshals until 1955.
