John,
I know the saying caveat emptor, but, as my knowledge of 3rd Reich head dress is "limited" other than being able to id a helmet, peaked cap etc, can you please explain the problems with this one for me and others.
Thanks
Regards etc

Fake decals. Both of them.
Paints wrong, and it's an M40.................nuff said
About 11 years ago I was burned by such photos by an ebay seller, jimmyduck, from Louisiana. Poor lighting, angled photographs, and an over eager me left me convinced that a completely reworked M40 was a mint SD SS. $1501 later (alot of money for a SD SS lid in those days - boy, was my wife pissed!) I was left with a nearly worthless paperweight, a bruised ego, and the incentive to do a little more research and alot more close scrutiny of a piece before parting with a significant sum on the hope that a possible purchase is real. John's advice is right on! Jim G.
Both decals are far too bright in colour and no such thing as a double decal M40.Well we all make mistakes and live and learn in order to fight another day
