My mate whose uncle was killed in the Great War, has shown me the certificate below, and he would like to know, would this have been issued to every service man, or to families of soldiers killed in action?

i would assume that one would be given to each volunteer who entered active service for the country,,

Hi Francie, no this certificate is not something which was generally given out. I have not seen this particular pattern before. This will be a local thing.
