Maybe it'll have a special inscription saying "Made special for gold wound badge Juli 20,1944 for A. Hitler"...

Hello big ned!
The PP angle is what came to mind for me first. It seems period. It smells period.
I'm gonna black light the strip around the inside edge and down through the vent for the pin. There is very little chance, in my mind, this thing uses non-flourescing paper for that strip if it's post war.
nothing flouresces. the fabric at the hinge, the card board strip at the margins and the interior beneath the pin vent of the insert are all non-reactive to UV light.
this suggests strongly that this case is wartime. the fabric, paper, glue... SOMETHING would react if it weren't.
