Original Assmann. I agree with everything you have noted. It's a nice badge in nice condition.

Hello Tony,
You are correct and your Assmann 1 is a late war variant fabricated by using the injection mold-die casting process.
This die cast manufacturing technique injects heated zinc under high pressure into a cavity where it cools and solidifies into the configuration of the die.
The mold was a multiple impression cavity type having four different cells, numbered 1-4, producing “almost identical” badges.
Here is one I have to compare.
