    Hello,

After the annexation of Austria in 1938, Austrian weapons continued to be used by the Wehrmacht and the police, including the machine pistol 34 (MPi 34) , the Mannlicher rifle and the Stutzen 1895.

The Mannlicher M95 weapons, the MPi 34 and the M95 bayonets were widely used by the German police and were also officially introduced.

Here is a bayonet Mannlicher M95 in NCO version and auxiliary front sight for the Stutzen M95 (carbine). Worn by the police in the III. Reich.

These bayonets were 1938 adopted by the existing police forces in former Austria and simply carried on. Especially in former Austria, the porteppe was traditionally carried on the bayonet handle.
The uniform and portepee changed. Here a German police portepee was attached in a typical way.

The scabbard was painted olive during the time of the first Republick 1918-1938. In addition to the KuK acceptance, the blade also received the ownership stamp of the 1st Republic.

For this purpose, a police mark was attached to the top of the grip head, to which authority this weapon belonged.

One or the other is now probably thinking that this is all nonsense and that never happened. Well... here are a few pictures.

The pics from the previous carrier are pretty good. You can also see the olive lacquered scabbard.

The colour of the scabbard also appears to be the same colour as used on Polizei stahlhelme. The markings and portepee make for a cracking piece of edged militaria. Thank you for posting such a beauty.

Interesting to note that the scabbard has the same color olive green paint as NPEA student daggers.
