What is the source for these? Neil
Something similar is sold by The Regalia Specialist for about $30. Their offering has the same markings so this is likely a reproduction set. I am not an SS collector so I could be wrong. These did exist and don't always equate Tropical items with Africa.
They were used in other places too like Italy. Please wait for other opinions. Neil
IMO, rounded pins, not for my collection.
Don't like the texture to the obverse either.
Ralph.
Searching for anything relating to, Anton Boos, 934 Stamm. Kp. Pz. Erz. Abt. 7, 3 Kompanie, Panzer-Regiment 2, 16th Panzer-Division (My father)
These are reproductions..
All originals were made by JFS..
Thx for your opinions lads. I never saw ss pith helmets documented, but I learned that they wre used, as you mentioned before, in Italy, the Balkan and Southern Russia.
I'll pass on these.
Thx
Paul
I obtained two sets of these marked FP 1942 in 2015 and posted them on WAF. They were purchased directly from a vet's widow of the 339 th Combat Engineering unit stationed in Italy and brought home in the pocket of a Heer tunic, along with various other items including helmets, all of which were correct. I believe these could well have been another contracting firm that made these during the war, either German or Italian.
