German helmet identification for new helmet collectors!!!

Found this a while ago and thought I'd post it for any new helmet collectors. Hope someone finds this useful!


NOTE: THE M-17 IS SUPPOSE TO BE THE M-18. THE M-17 IS THE SAME AS THE M-16 BUT WITH A STEEL LINER BAND!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As far as I can tell the one marked M17 is actually an M18, isn´t it ??

Nice overview. Yes the M17 is an M18. For reference a '17 is the same as '16 but with steel liner band, the outward appearance is identical to a '16. M18's put the chinstrap bales on the liner band and removed the lugs from the skirt.
